Forms of Inflammatory Acne Treatment

Inflammatory is the most serious form of acne and may require the following invasive techniques to produce positive results:

1)	surgical techniques such as incision and drainage of cystic or pustular lesions and the injection of anti-inflammatory intralesional injection of corticosteriods
2)	chemotherapy, including long-term administration of antibiotic agents, especially the tetracyclines, short-term therapy with corticosteroids, and estrogen-progestin therapy in a cyclic routine
3)	dermabrasion (abrading the skin with a high speed rotating wire brush or steel abrasive wheel after the skin has been hardened and anesthetized with a refrigerant) in selected individuals

Now obviously these methods are not for everyone and most people with only a minor amount of inflammatory acne will merely be put on a tight diet and cleansing regimen or provided with a prescription such as Accutane (see review).
